To make the feature easier to use, WhatsApp has developed this feature in such a way that it works seamlessly on both portrait and landscape orientations. Now WhatsApp for desktop will appear in a standalone window on the screen, which users can resize as per their needs. It will always be on top of the screen so that users can continue their video chat even while multi-tasking.
WhatsApp also said in its statement that all voice and video calls on its app are end-to-end encrypted. The security and privacy features will remain the same when calling from a mobile device or desktop PC.
WhatsApp also said that users can only make one-to-one calls on Windows and Mac machines from the desktop app. The Facebook-owned company said this was done to ensure “reliability and high quality” of the call experience. In the future, the company is also planning to include group voice and video call features.
Earlier in January, WhatsApp had added another new security feature on WhatsApp Web and Desktop. The company had made face and fingerprint unlock mandatory while linking the device. The company said that this feature will give an additional layer of security to the users. With the new feature, users have to link their WhatsApp account to their computer using fingerprint or Face ID. In such a situation, no outsider can activate WhatsApp Web using your mobile.
