New Delhi. Finnish company Nokia has confirmed a deal worth several billion dollars with Bharti Airtel for several years. Under this, Nokia will install 4G and 5G equipment in major cities and states of India. According to this contract, Nokia will deploy devices from its 5G airscale portfolio. These include the latest generation of base stations, baseband units and massive MIMO radios, all powered by its energy-efficient ‘ReefShark System-on-Chip technology’. “Nokia has been awarded a multi-billion dollar multi-year expansion contract by Bharti Airtel to deploy 4G and 5G equipment across key Indian cities and states,” the statement said.

Airtel’s 5G network capacity will increase
These solutions will enhance Airtel’s network with exceptional 5G capacity and coverage and support its network growth. Nokia will also modernize Airtel’s existing 4G network with multiband radios and baseband equipment that can also support 5G. Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, said, “This strategic partnership with Nokia will future-proof our network infrastructure and provide customers with an unparalleled user experience. “This partnership will also provide a network that will be environment friendly.”
Nokia President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pekka Lundmark said that this strategic agreement will further strengthen the company’s presence in India.
