WhatsApp users may soon get vacation mode, know how it works

WhatsApp is actively working on a Vacation Mode feature that will allow users to retain chats as ‘archived chats’ even when new messages arrive. Currently, WhatsApp unarchives archived chats whenever a new message arrives, but Vacation Mode will prevent this from happening. The latest WhatsApp for Android beta brings improvements to this vacation mode feature and hints that WhatsApp is rapidly developing this mode. It can be expected that this feature will be released in the coming days.

The instant messaging platform has released WhatsApp Beta 2.20.206.2 for Android and WABetaInfo has spotted all the new features being developed from the app’s code. WhatsApp Features Tracker has detected a Vacation Mode feature in the app. This shows that work is going on rapidly on new features in the app. As we told that due to the new feature, even after receiving a new message in the app, that chat will not come out of the archived chat. Currently, if a chat is archived and a new message comes in, that chat comes out of the archive. In previous beta updates, WhatsApp prevented muted archived chats from being automatically archived when new messages arrived, but this new beta release suggests that WhatsApp users will have to toggle the chat off to keep the chat archived. No need to mute.

Additionally, some changes have also been noticed in the app’s interface, for example, “archived chats” may move to the top of your chat list after vacation mode is enabled for better visibility. In this update, WhatsApp is also working on a ‘new bannered archived chats feature’, which reads (translated) “Add chats you want to keep muted here”, chats with new messages Main chats Will not return to the list. This indicates that the behavior of the archived chat function will change for all archived chats.
