WhatsApp latest feature to allow user mention group chats in status updates

Now the facility to mention group chat in status updates on WhatsApp is also coming. The company has started testing it on the beta version. It is live in the beta version of the app on Google Play Store. WABetaInfo has given information about this. Earlier, the company had released the facility to mention contacts in status. This new feature will now be an extension of that. Just like when a contact is mentioned in a status update, a notification goes to that person in the chat, in the same way, when a group is mentioned, a notification will go to every member of the group. The user will no longer need to mention different contacts.

Another advantage of this will be that now it will be possible to send notifications even beyond the limit of five contacts. Earlier, not more than five contacts could be mentioned in a status update. But now this limit will not come in the way through the group chat mention feature. Notifications will be sent to all group members except those who have already muted the group chat. Along with this, all the members of the group will also see your status update in which you have mentioned that group chat.

However, it has not yet been clarified by the company as to how many groups can be mentioned in the group chat feature. Just as a limit of 5 users has been given for mentioning a contact, similarly the number of groups that can be mentioned at one time has not been clarified yet. There is a possibility that the company may impose a limit on the group number. The company has currently made the feature available only in beta version. Soon it will be available to all users. Only after that it will be clear what limit is given in the feature.
