WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo has shared some screenshots, in which the use of this feature can be seen. As can be seen in a screenshot, this feature will be available for access through a dedicated timer button. Users have to tap on that button after adding the media file to their chat. As per other screenshots, select media will enable content expiration.
According to the report of WABetaInfo, the expiring media feature enabled photos and videos will disappear completely as soon as the user to whom they have been sent leaves the chat window. Not only this, apart from this, WhatsApp has also introduced a timer icon for the media files sent through this feature, so that the users receiving the file can know that the sent file is for a limited time only. Will disappear.
WABetaInfo mentioned that this new feature has been developed for Android users at the initial stage, although it will be provided to both Android and iPhone users.
Let us tell you, the expiring media feature of WhatsApp is much like that of Instagram, in which photos and videos sent by users in direct messages automatically disappear. Instagram also allows its users to disappear media files in group messages.
Last month, hints of expired messages feature were seen in WhatsApp beta version 2.20.197.10 released for Android. As soon as this feature is enabled, chats older than 7 days will automatically disappear. The screenshots shared in reference to this feature also indicate that not only chats but also media files using the expiry message feature will disappear along with the chats. However, some photos and videos can be saved before they expire.
It is worth noting that WhatsApp has neither made public any information about expiring messages nor told anything about expiring media. At present, it is also not clear when these new features will be delivered to the users.
