BJP Alleges Bitcoin Scam In Maharashtra Election, Supriya Sule denies

Before the assembly election voting in Maharashtra, one of the biggest states of the country, on Wednesday, two big political parties have been accused of corruption. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) presented audio clips to the media on these allegations, indicating the involvement of the Congress unit in the state and its ally Nationalist Congress Party in this scam.

Ravindranath Patil, a retired police officer, has accused Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule and state Congress president Nana Patole of being involved in a fraud related to cryptocurrency. He has said that Supriya had demanded cash in exchange for Bitcoin. However, this matter is almost six years old. The party said that the money received from this scam has been used for campaigning in the assembly elections. However, Supriya Sule has denied any wrongdoing. He has called it a ploy to mislead voters by spreading false information before the elections.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that this has exposed the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi. He has sought answers from Congress and Supriya on this. Supriya is an MP from Baramati Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. Supriya told NDTV, “Sudhanshu Trivedi has made allegations and asked me questions and all these allegations are wrong. I am ready to sit with him on any public platform. I have filed a complaint in cybercrime regarding this. I have no connection with any transfer of Bitcoin. I am surprised that the election has fallen to this level. It shows the desperation of BJP.”

Patil, the accused in this case, had taken voluntary retirement from police service. The state’s Pune Police had hired him and cyber expert Pankaj Ghode to investigate some cases related to cryptocurrency registered about six years ago. Police had alleged that during the investigation, Patil had transferred some cryptocurrencies to his account. However, Patil told reporters that he had been framed.
