Pt. Vijayshankar Mehta
Being a human being is the greatest achievement among living beings. Misfortune begins when we misuse our being human. Shri Ram is describing the characteristics of the human body and has said that one of the abuses that man commits is suicide.
Deliberately causing one’s own death is suicide. And the element working behind this is called mental disorder. So Ram said, ‘Jo na tarai bhava sagar nar samaj aas paai. So let the blasphemy, slow-minded and self-effacing go away.’ ‘The person who does not swim in the ocean of existence after getting such resources is ungrateful and stupid and attains the speed of a person who commits suicide.’
This means that God has not approved suicide. But some sorrows come in a man’s life such that sometimes he feels like dying. And whenever these thoughts of despair come, understand that your personality is withering. So freshen up and don’t take the wrong path for this.
There is a way mentioned in our scriptures to eradicate sadness and that is to wake up in Brahma Muhurta and offer water to the rising sun. If we offer water to the rising sun, we will become refreshed and stay away from such negative thoughts.
