PM Modi held bilateral meetings with world leaders on the first day of the G20 Summit on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. PM Modi held talks on bilateral issues with French President Emmanuel Macron, British PM Keir Starmer, Italy’s PM Georgia Meloni, Portugal’s PM Luis Montenegro, Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto and Norway’s PM Jonas Ger Store.
During the summit, PM Modi also met US President Joe Biden and there was an informal conversation between them. PM Modi also gave his important suggestions on the first two sessions of the G20 Summit – ‘Solidarity against hunger and poverty’ and ‘Improving the functioning of governments’.
British PM Keir Starmer said after meeting Modi that talks on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India will be started again next year.
The theme of the first session of the G20 Summit is ‘Solidarity against hunger and poverty’. Addressing the first session, PM Modi congratulated the President of Brazil for the successful organization of G20. He said that Brazil has taken forward the decisions taken in the New Delhi Summit under its chairmanship.
Modi said-
India has brought 25 crore people out of poverty in 10 years, giving free food grains to 80 crore people. 55 crore people are taking advantage of free health insurance. Gave 20 billion dollars (1,68 thousand crore rupees) to the farmers. India is contributing to global food security. Recently help has been provided to Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

PM Modi wrote on social media – “Meeting continues from Vadodara to Rio”. Actually, the Prime Minister of Spain had visited India on 28 October. He took part in a road show with Modi in Vadodara.
