Due to a problem in Android System WebView, some other Google apps including Gmail and Google Chrome started crashing. Android System WebView is a system component based on Chrome that helps Android apps to display web content. The company admitted that users are also experiencing problems in Gmail. Google wrote (translated) “We will update when this issue will be fixed by 5:35 AM 3/23/21.”
After this, users were advised to use Gmail on desktop until the problem was fixed. By 11:48 am, Google resolved the issue with Android System WebView and released update version 89.0.4389.105.
