New Delhi. PAN (Permanent Account Number) card is an important identity card issued by the Income Tax Department of India. It is required to open a bank account, pay taxes and obtain loans. This card is generally issued to adults, but minors (under 18 years of age) can also apply for it, especially for educational and financial purposes.
The PAN card application of a minor is made by his parents or legal guardian. The process is the same as for adults, although some additional documents are required.

Visit NSDL website: NSDL PAN Service.
Select “New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)” and select “Individual”.
Fill the name of the minor, contact information of the parents and click on “Submit”.
Select the option to upload required documents and select physical PAN card if required.
Fill in the minor and parent’s information, then upload the documents.
Pay the application fee through debit card, credit card or net banking.
After payment you will get an identification number.
If you have opted for physical document submission, send the documents to the Income Tax PAN Service Unit located in Pune.
Documents required for minor PAN card
Age Proof: Aadhar Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, or School Marksheet.
Address Proof: Passport, Voter ID, Aadhar Card, or utility bill less than 3 months old.

Download Form 49A from NSDL website.
Fill all the required details correctly.
Attach the documents along with identity proof, address proof, birth proof, and two passport size photographs.
Submit it at the nearest PAN Center (TIN Facilitation Centre) and pay the application fee.
PAN card for a minor is an important financial tool that helps parents manage the financial affairs of the child in an effective manner. As the child becomes an adult, this PAN card remains valid for all financial activities in future.
