The details available on the FAQ page have been first made public by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, which states that the WhatsApp Disappearing Messages feature will be limited to a period of only 7 days. Users will not have a customized option to make messages disappear on their own, like the facility available on Telegram. This is different from the initial version of the feature that was seen in the public beta release of WhatsApp for Android last year. In that version, a message had the facility to disappear after a specified period of time.
WhatsApp has also informed that the new feature will not affect the messages you have previously sent or received. Apart from this, even if the user does not open the sent message within seven days, the message will still be displayed in the notification, but whenever he tries to open the chat and read the message, that message will have disappeared by then. .
If you send a disappearing message, the person receiving the message can take a screenshot of the message or copy or save it before it disappears. Therefore, WhatsApp has advised users to send messages to trusted people using this feature. Information has also been given in the FAQ that if this feature of disappearing messages is enabled, the media files sent in the chat will also disappear automatically. Such information had come to light last month also. However, if the person receiving the message has enabled auto-download feature in his phone, then that media file will be saved in his phone.
Apart from the information given on the FAQ page, WhatsApp has also created some dedicated pages on its site with the help of which users can know how to implement any new feature on their Android, iPhone and KaiOS by following step-by-step. And can enable it on desktop.
