TikTok App now available for Android TV!

TikTok is officially available for Android TV. This short video sharing platform is very popular among the youth. However, a few days ago there was a bad news for its Indian users. The Government of India has permanently banned a total of 59 apps including TikTok (TikTok Ban in India). The app was banned last year itself, but now it has got a permanent ban, which makes it clear that TikTok will not make a comeback in India. However, the app is still being used extensively in other countries and in view of this the developers have officially released it for Android TV as well.

TikTok is now available on the Play Store for Chromecast with Google TV as an Android TV app. A report by GizmoChina suggests that the app is currently available in some regions. When checked by the publication, they did not find this app on the Play Store of Mi TV Box.

At the same time, Android Police says that you can watch videos in this app without signing in and if you are willing to watch your created list, then you can also sign in to the app. Even on TV, videos reportedly play in portrait mode only. Controlling the app has also been made very easy. You have to use the right and left navigation buttons respectively to watch the next or previous video and pressing the “More” button brings up other options.

Let us tell you that 59 Chinese companies including TikTok, WeChat have been permanently banned in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had banned these apps last year. Earlier, sources had told Gadgets 360 that after the ban, the government had sought answers from all those app companies to some questions related to collecting and using user data. The ban appears to indicate that the government was not satisfied with the responses given by the companies.
