New Delhi: The G20 summit was held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. During this, a traditional photo session of G20 leaders took place. Its picture also came out. Many global leaders including PM Modi were seen in the family photo of G20. But three big faces were not visible. US President Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau and Italy’s PM Meloni. In fact, Joe Biden arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday for his last G20 summit as US President. He also arrived to get photographed with the other G20 leaders. But by then it was too late, the family photo of G20 had already been taken. American officials blamed technical reasons for this omission. Because of this Joe Biden could not be a part of this photo. Apart from him, Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau and Italy’s PM Meloni also could not be a part of this picture.
In his last event on the world stage, 81-year-old Joe Biden tried to strengthen his legacy. Leaders from around the world, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, walked the red carpet for a group photo at Rio’s magnificent Museum of Modern Art. These G20 leaders reached the stage to get photographed in the backdrop of the city’s famous Sugarloaf Mountain. Amidst the fun and laughter, the official family photo session of the G20 ended in the blink of an eye.
How come you missed the photo session?
But at that time a strange incident was seen in the G-7 summit. Actually, the leaders were called to a place to be photographed, but US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not reach there. Later both the leaders came from the other side. He was holding a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit, but by then it was too late. All other leaders had left from there. Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni also missed getting photographed. He, Biden and Trudeau went to talk separately. Later he posed for photographs separately with Biden and Trudeau.
Is the Russian Foreign Minister the reason?
An American official said on condition of anonymity that the photo was taken in advance due to technical reasons. All the leaders could not reach there. Many leaders were not there at all. US officials denied that Biden had not come to be photographed with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to avoid being seen. Biden had gone to join the campaign launched by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to stop hunger in the world.
