Kyiv. America’s bet seems to be backfiring. Ever since US President Joe Biden approved Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles against Russia, he has been losing sleep. America is afraid that Russia may take some big step and that is why amid the increasing tension in the Russia-Ukraine war, America has closed its embassy in Kiev on Wednesday because America is worried about “possible major air attack”. Information about “attack” has been received.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the embassy is being closed and embassy staff have been instructed to remain in place,” the US State Department’s Consular Affairs said in a statement on the US Embassy website in Kyiv. The US Embassy has advised American citizens to immediately move to a safe place if an air raid warning is issued.
The warning comes after Ukraine attacked Russian territory using American ATACMS missiles. The move became possible after new permission from the administration of US President Joe Biden, which marks the 1,000th day of the war. Russia has been warning Western countries for months that if the US allowed Ukraine to attack deep into Russian territory using American, British and French missiles, Moscow would consider these NATO countries directly involved in the conflict.
According to American media reports, the US President has approved Ukraine to use long-range missiles in response to North Korea’s alleged deployment of thousands of troops to help Moscow in the war. Both Seoul and Washington are claiming that North Korean troops deployed in the Kursk region on Russia’s western border have started fighting against the Ukrainian army.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has long demanded that Kiev be allowed to use Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to strike targets inside Russia. ATACMS can range up to 300 km (186 mi).
